Installing Samba is a bit complicated but great ressources exist out there to help:

  1. Download Samba v2.2.5 (the v2.3 binary for 68k) from Aminet;
  2. Read through the INSTALL.AMIGA file, it could save you a lots of troubles later!
  3. Follow the steps provided by Mikey_C of Amigans, it works straight out-of-the box for me;
  4. Rember that your Amiga is probably on a different subnet than your other computers, so you may need to point Samba to a WINS server.

Below is my config. file, it pretty much tells it all:

Using this configuration, I managed to access the content of the Amiga from the PC directly:

Makoli -> Shingu

Also, using SMBFS, I can browse the content of the PC directly from the Amiga:

Shingu -> Makoli
